  1. Happy New Year, cousin!

My uncle Anselmo’s nickname was “el pariente” and everyone he knew in Rosenberg, Texas called him that. And as he said, “todos somos parientes”, we actually are. Turns out Juan Valdés Abrego is my 3rd great-granfather, and according to Familysearch, his mother, Francisca Xaviera de Abrego is my 4th great-grandmother, right? Well… new year new relatives, and new findings! I will keep digging for more roots!

  2. The son of Juana Margarita Valdez and Juan Felipe Arispe (the couple mentioned in #4) had a son (Jose Ignacio de Arispe) who married my 4th great aunt (Maria Rosalia del Fierro Ximenes).
