1734 Death Record of Jose Jacinto Pena
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

This is the September 7, 1734 death record of Jose Jacinto Pena, my 8th great grandfather  who died in Tamaulipas in el cerro llamado ventana del conde. This death record indicates that he was a presidial soldier and that he was killed by indians.

The record mentions that he was married to Ana Maria Guaxardo. She was the daughter of Joseph Martinez Guajardo and Margarita Gutierrez.

I have yet to discover whom his parents were and or where he got married with Ana Maria Guaxardo but I suspect that they were from Cerralvo as the record indicates.

Below is the transcription of his death record.

  1. He is the 7th GGF of my late husband, Eliud Barrera. Thanks for sharing! I had the date from a record index, but not the image from the church record.

  2. Guaxardo/Guajardos are distant cousins of mine. I have many ancestors from Mier, Tamps. Juan De La Peña (G9QQ-Z34) and Estefania Villa (G9QH-86B) are listed as Jacinto’s parents by linked trees to mine. I am new to this research and have not worked on that part of my family tree. Ana Maria remarried. Thank you for your work.

  3. My mother in law Alicia Araceli Pena Ramirez from Mier would say her family came to Mier from Cerralvo. When I see your pics you have resemblance to the Pena part of his Barrera Pena clan.

  4. Descendent of his son Jose and Ana Lopez as well, their son Antonio and Maria Petra but also through their other son Bernardo and Balvina Garcia Barrera. Two brothers that married two sisters. Oh and then 2nd cousins that married and many more intertwined branches!
