This 527-page book contains seven generations of descendants of Ignacio Guerra Cañamar and his wives Maria de la Garza Cavazos and Maria Catarina Fernandez de Tijerina. He was born in Mexico City in 1633 and entered El Nuevo Reino de Leon (Nuevo Leon) in 1659. ​
He is considered to be the progenitor of the Guerra last name in Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and Texas. This book contains information from the 1650's to the 1880's.
His will dated November 20, 1701 mentions that his parents are Antonio Guerra Cañamal and Luisa Hernandez de Rio Frio.
Ignacio married Maria de la Garza Cavazos the daughter of Juan Cavazos and Elena de la Garza. He also had a second marriage to Maria Catarina Fernandez de Tijerina, the daughter of Gregorio Fernandez de Tijerina and Beatriz Gonzalez Hidalgo.
Don Israel Cavazos Garza. noted historian, states in his book, Diccionario Biografico de Nuevo Leon, that Ignacio was a soldier and then Captain of the Presidio of Cerralvo. He was also procurador de cabildo for the city of Monterrey in various occasions and commissioner in 1668. Serving as mayor in 1671 and regidor in 1676 and 1678.
Keep in mind, this book as all my others are only tools to help you build your tree. Once you discover a death date, baptism date, and or marriage date get a copy of the original. It is very rewarding to do so and you will learn more details about your ancestors.
Also, this book does not include every descendant of theirs since that is impossible, it only includes the ones that I have identified through documents, reliable published, and unpublished works.
