Historia Del Nuevo Reino De Leon 1577 – 1723
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

Lately, I have been becoming more and more interested in the History of Nuevo Leon or how it used to be called during Spanish rule “El Nuevo Reino de Leon”. I think that this interest has grown in me since through my research I have found that this history, is our history and the history of our families and ancestors. Some of them even helped explore and as they themselves put it Conquer, “Este Reino”, this realm. I find it amazing and sometimes even surprise myself when doing genealogical research with the things that I find or resources that I stumble upon. One such resource is this eBook titled “Historia Del  Nuevo Reino De Leon  1577 – 1723” by Eugenio del Hoyo.

I found it online while researching my two ancestors Alberto del Canto and Diego de Montemayor. As a matter of fact, this book mentions both of them and even has a section provided to each. This book is a great resource if you want to learn more about the history of El Nuevo Reino de Leon during this time period. It also will provide you with a feel of how things were, at least politically and conflict wise, when our ancestors lived.

This eBook also contains a family tree towards the very end about the Carvajal Family which includes Luis de Carvajal.

  1. Great info; Thanks!
    FYI-Help:
am doing genealogy -my Spanish grandfather Higinio Gonzalez was born in Cerralvo or Carrizitos NL in 1860; I understand, generally the Spanish in the area came from (???) Luis de Carbajal colonists & 75% were Converses. Am at dead end here; found “La Unca de Panuco” passenger list copy but cannot read it clearly. Would you have any additional info on legible passenger list??? Any info is greatly appreciated
