

The following is the marriage of my 2nd great grandparentsr Martin Garza Garcia and Maria Ruperta Lopez de la Garza back in March 2, 1862 in Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Their marriage license was dated February 8, 1862 and I will be posting that one pretty soon. What is interesting about the following document is that it indicates that they were married in the house of Dona Gregoria Cantu. I wonder who she was and why there?

En esta Villa de Mier a las dos dias del mes de Marzo de mil Ochocientos sesenta y dos anos yo el Juez del estado civil de este partido una en atencion a que el termino de quince dias fijados para la publicacion de la Acta de fecha Ocho del mes de Febrero proccimo pasado concluidos sin haber habido impedimento al matrimonio que pretendend Don Martin Garza y Dona Ruperta Lopez de acuerdo con los interesadosse fijan las siete de esta noche para que tengan en verificacion dicho matrimonio en la casa de Dona Gregoria Cantu = Ambrocio Gonzalez.
