Joseph Cantu and Maria Gertrudis de la Garza
Last Names of Nuevo Leon

This is the June 26, 1708 marriage record of Joseph Cantu and Maria Gertrudis de la Garza, my wifes 7th great grandparents who got married in what is now Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

It is unfortunate that the record does nto mention their parents. Fortunatly for us the record mentiosn that they had a marriage dispensation done due to being related by blod.

From that dispensation we know that the parents of Joseph Cantu are Fernando Cantu and Antonia Ramirez. The parents of Maria Gertrudis de al Garza are Joseph de al Garza and Nicolasa de la Garza.

It is also interestign that Cantu is spelled Cantun and Cantum. I have seen this in many other records but I think it was just how the priest would write them.

For more ancestors and or their descendants you can view them on Las Villas del Norte Database here: https://lasvillasdelnorte.com/database/
