Last Names of Nuevo Leon

This is the marriage of my 9th great grandparents Antonio Guerra Canamal and Luisa Hernandez de Rio Frio whom got married in Mexico City back in December 22, 1624. The document has several words that I could not make out. In their place I placed a [?] instead. If you can decipher them let me know so that I may fix it.

  1. All my research has Dona Luisa Fernandez de Rio Frio. Could the F in Fernandez
be mistaken for an H? Their descendents have Fernandez as their mother’s maiden name, not Hernandez. Thanks for sharing. Judi

    1. Judy, Crispin Rendon has her as Luisa Fernandez de Rio Frio also. I just went with Hernandez since that’s how I see if on the document but it also does look like and F. I just have to find other documents were it clearly shows her as Fernandez. It’s just me trying to stay true to my research habits.

      1. Thanks and do share what you find. I rather am used to Fernandez and like that better than Hernandez – ha! Have you looked at the Guerra Web page who have her as Fernandez. But of course you are right about using info from legal documents. Isn’t it fun? I do
not use social media and not much technology, so I am far behind but in 4 years that I have been working with my cousin JUanita, I am amazed at how much more I know about my family. Have a great week. Judi
