Francisco Rodriguez de Montemayor and Maria Caballero de los Olivos, 1684 Church Marriage in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

The following is the 1684 Church Marriage record for my 7th great grandparents, Francisco Rodriguez de Montemayor and Maria Caballero de los Olivos, they married in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. There are to reasons the following document is interesting. First, it is a double wedding, the brides are half  sisters since both of their names are Maria and it is also indicated that the second Maria is “hija natural” natural daughter meaning that she was born out of wedlock. Second it mentions the names of the parents for both of the couples. The parents of Francisco are Diego Rodriguez de Montemayor and Ynes de la Garza. Her parents are listed as Sargent Lucas Caballero and Juana de Barrasa whom was deceased by the time the marriage occurred.

User Request – Andrew Garza or Salazar, More Information Needed

I received this request a couple of days ago from Anna Garza Rosamond and just hope that by posting it someone may be able to have an answer.

Hi. My name is Anna Garza Rosamond. I am trying to find my father’s family. He was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas sometime around 1900-1905. He used the name Andrew Garza after coming to the US as a child, but I know that was not his birth surname. The truth is we just don’t know as he kept this info from all his children. My older sister once claimed his surname was Salazar and my brother recently took a Y-DNA test through Family Tree DNA and the only high level match for him was to a Flavio Salazar. So far this Mr. Salazar has not responded to any of our queries. I have pictures of my father’s parents whose names I don’t know, but I know he had two sisters, probably named Celia and Lilia. I also have photos of some of his family taken in either Matamoros or Monterrey in the late 1950s. I will be glad to forward the pictures to anyone who thinks they might be able to identify them. Any help that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

If anyone has any answers or suggestions write them on the comment area of this page or send me an email and I will forward it to Anna.

The following death record is that of my grandfather’s sister, Ofelia Garza Lopez was my. At the cemetery of Los Trevinos, Tamaulipas, Mexico I had found Ofelia’s tombstone with a death date of September 15, 1944. The following document indicates that she was born on the 29th of October 1924. So she was 19 years old when she died. At this time she was already married. I need to ask my father to see if he heard anything in respect as to her short life.

Names of People in Second Blog Banner

The following is one of the old blog banners that I used to have. I am seriously thinking of remaking the banners to fit this blog and post them again. If I do you will probably see them up by next week.

Photo 1                                                       Photo 2                                                Photo 3

This is the second banner that I used in this blog.

Photo 1: Photo circa 1980’s

Maria Dedar Flores Villarreal (my wife’s paternal grandmother)
Vicente Perez Contreras (my wife’s paternal grandfather)

Photo 2: Photo taken in Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas, Mexico in 1983.

Moises Garza Tanguma (me). Yes that is my baby picture.

Photo 3: Photo looks like color drawing circa 1970’s or earlier.

Juan Tanguma (Zamora) Tanguma (my maternal grandfather)
Maria Josefina Lopez Trevino (my maternal grandmother)

To be honest with you I do not have many family pictures and that is something that I am trying to obtain. I don’t need originals as long as they let me scan them I am happy. Hopefully I get to share them in this blog as I get more.
