1680 Baptism of Antonio Garcia Guerra in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

The following is the image and transcription of the 1680 baptism record of my 9th great grandfather Antonio Garcia Guerra, also known as Antonio Garcia de Sosa. His father is Pedro Garcia and his mother is Elena de la Garza Guerra. This document also indicates that his godparents were Captain Juan Cavazos and Clara de la Garza, they are also my 9th great grandparents through other family lines. I have yet to find any of Antonio’s grandparents. If you have any documents indicating whom his grandparents were please let me know.

This is the December 31, 1674 baptism of my 8th great grandmother Josepha de la Garza Diaz in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was the daughter of Pedro de la Garza and Ana Diaz Molina. Her godparents are listed as Antonio Gonzalez y Melchora Botello.

1689 Marriage of Antonio Lopez Prieto and Maria Rodriguez de Montemayor in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

This is the June 21 1689 marriage of my 8th great grandparents Antonio Lopez Prieto and Maria Rodriguez de Montemayor in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was the son of Nicolas Lopez Prieto and Maria de Ayala. Maria’s parents were Diego Rodriguez de Montemayor and Ines de la Garza. Their witnesses are listed as Sargento Mayor Lucas Caballero Alonso Ruiz and Pedro de la Garza.

The parents of Antonio are Pedro Garcia de Sosa and Elena de la Garza Guerra. The parents of Nicolasa are Blas de la Garza and Margarita Lopez Prieto. Captain Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon Colonizer of South Texas

The following is an excellent book about Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon whom was the son of General Blas de la Garza Falcon (1673-1736), governor of the province of Coahuila from 1723 to 1729 and 1733 to 1735, and Dona Beatriz de Villarreal. He was born in or near Monterrey, Nuevo Leon in 1712. He married Dona Catarina Gomez de Castro whom was the daughter of Don Antonio Gomez de Castro and Dona Nicolasa Baez de Trevino, on January 1, 1731 at the mining town of Boca de Leones, present day Villaldamas, Nuevo Leon , Mexico. Joseph Manuel Ayala and Josepha Antonia Cantu, 1732 Marriage In Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

The following is the 1732 marriage record for my wife’s 6th great grandparents Joseph Manuel Ayala and Josepha Antonia Cantu. They married in Monterrey Nuevo, Leon Mexico. The following document indicates that Manuel’s parents were Nicolas de Ayala and Antonia de la Garza. Josepha’s parents are listed as Joseph Cantu and Gertrudis de la Garza. The document also indicates that they had received a dispensation for being related in the 3rd degree. I have yet to search for their marriage dispensation. Continue reading

Nicolas de Ayala, 1741 Church Death Record, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico

The following is the 1741 church death record for my wife’s 7th great grandfather Nicolas de Ayala. The following document also indicates that his wife was Antonia de la Garza. The document also indicates that he left a will which I have yet to find. Also he names his sons Joseph Baptista and Caietano de Ayala as his executors. It is interesting to note that Nicolas is my 10th great grand uncle since he was the brother of Catalina de Ayala my 10th great grandmother and yes their parents are our common ancestors.
