Archivos Historicos de Monterrey – Historical Archives of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

On may the third I did a presentation for the Buevo Santander Genealogical Society out of Zapata County. Titled “30 Websites for Your South Texas and Northeastern Mexico Genealogy”. You can read more about it here. When I came to the slide that had the following website I asked to see how many where using it. I was amazed that no one raised their hands.

Due to this reason I have updated this post and now I am sharing it to you again. This resource that I am talking about is the website for the Archives of Monterrey. They have wealth of information dating back till the 1500’s. I can also bet you that your ancestors are listed there.

Part of old post:

“I have been playing with it and have found several documents on some of my ancestors. Unfortunately, most of it are indexes and not the original documents. In order to see the original we would have to travel to Monterrey or get a local genealogist to get it for us.”

Second part of old post:

“I have mostly been finding documents dated between 1680 to 1720’s. Have fun, I will be posting some of the stuff I find in latter posts. Enjoy!!

Almost forgot, don’t be misguided by the name, it contains documents on what used to be Nuevo Reino de Leon which includes Tamaulipas and South Texas. It also contains documents in French and English.”
