The following is the 1861 Church Marriage record of my 3rd great grandfather Jose Gil Lopez to his second wife Anastacia Hinojosa. He was the son of Lorenzo Lopez and Barbara Rios. Thanks to a 1874 Census of Arcabuz I was able to find that he had married twice and thus found this document.

Marriage of Jose Manuel Lopez and Maria Tomasa de La Garza, 1834 in Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico

The following is the 1834 church marriage of my 3rd great grandparents Jose Manuel Lopez and Maria Tomasa de La Garza. Unfortunately this documented doe not indicate whom their parents are but it does contain some clues. First of all, from other documents we know that the parents of Maria Tomasa are Juan Jose de la Garza and Maria Gertrudis Cuellar. Now to the clues, this documented indicates that there is an Illicit Affinity in a Second degree, meaning that they were somehow related but not by blood. From research there is only one other Manuel Lopez that was married 7 years prior to Maria Cecilia de la Garza whom was Tomasa’s first cousin. This could only mean that the two Manuel’s are the same person whom married a cousin of his deceased wife and thus had to get a dispensation from the church. If I could only find the dispensation, that would let me know with certainty. The bad thing is also that on both marriages his parents are not listed. I sure need more research before I can be sure.

Juan Tanguma and Josefina Lopez 1939 Marriage in Los Trevinos Tamaulipas, Mexico

The following is the Civil Record of the 1939 marriage between my grandfather Juan Tanguma and my grandmother Josefina Lopez. I got to meet my grandmother, but already passed away back in 2008 my grandfather died in 1981. According to my parents he did meet me and used to carry me calling me “guerito“. Unfortunately that same year that I was born he passed away, in December. I wish I could remember him. I just have two photos of him, one is of him and my grandmother and the other one he is under the porche of his Jacal but the image is very dark.

User Request – Demetrio de la Garza and Dionisia Casas Any Information is Appreceated

On June the sixth I received the following inquiry and now I am sharing it with all of you in hopes that together we may help each other out or at least in hopes that someone out there may have the answer’s  for Linda.

Inquiry:

I am looking for information on Demetrio de la Garza and his wife Dionisia Casas. I have found the baptismal records for 2 of their children – Jose Encarnacion (1879) and Maria Ignacia (1881), and they also had another son named Nicolas(1889). Those records show Baptisms registered at Nuestra Senora del Refugio in Matamoros. Demetrio’s father was listed as Rafael de la Garza and his mother was listed as Ignacia Lopez Gonzales (or Gonzalez Lopez). Dionisia’s parents were listed as Encarnacion Casas and and Juana Saurez or Juarez. Dionisia (Leonicia) Garza died in Victoria, Texas (1935). I believe that Demetrio died in Matamoros before 1900, and his widow moved her family back to Texas (they were in the 1900 Goliad census). Any information about Demetrio is helpful. Thank you!

Any information you can either post it on the comment section of this post or email Linda at mwwlrw1@gmail.com

1900 Baptism of Maria Trevino Trevino, Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico

The following is the 1900 baptism of Maria Trevino, my great grandmother through my mothers side. She was the mother of Jose Fina Lopez, my maternal grandmother. For a very long time I could not get any information about her until I found her Civil Marriage Registration with Cesareo Lopez in Dec 21, 1915. She was born Jul 01, 1899 in Rancho Los Trevinos, Tamaulipas, Mexico and in Aug 04, 1900 she was baptized in Ciudad Mier. I have yet to find her Death Certificate and Family lore is that she is buried in Carrizales, Tamaulipas, Mexico which if family stories are true it is near Reynosa. If anyone has any other information please let me know. The following document lists her parents as being Hesiquio (Exiquio) Trevino and Maria de Jesus Trevino.

The following is the 1793 church marriage of my 5th great grandparents Xavier Ynojosa and Ma. Manuela Monica Lopez in Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. On Manuela’s side I have gone as far back as her grandparents but I have not been able to find any information on who the parents of Francisco where. If anyone knows who they are please send me an email. As you all can see the following document was kind of hard to read but with little patience, I did transcribe it the best I could.
