Last Names of Nuevo Leon

Many of our ancestors lived in the Spanish province of Nuevo Santander and some even helped forge it with their own resources and hard work. Nuevo Santander is now present-day Tamaulipas, Mexico and South Texas was founded by José de Escandón and named for his native province in Spain. It was designated as a province by viceregal order on September 3, 1746.

The following is a list of all governors of Nuevo Santander up until 1821 when Mexico won its independence from Spain. let me know if any of your ancestors are listed.
